PET OVERPOPULATION. Every year in Temple, over 3,000 animals lose their lives in our shelter because they are homeless. The Shelter takes in more than 5,300 dogs/cats each year—costing local taxpayers around $340,000.00. to round up, house, euthanize and dispose of them. It is obvious that we have a tremendous pet overpopulation problem. The bottom line is that animals die daily because of irresponsible pet owners who think they can let their animals freely reproduce. The public has to become actively involved.
SOLVING THE PET OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM. The solution is simple. It’s implementation. However, it will require sweeping efforts from a variety of organizations and people, including you. The solution is this: only by implementing wide-spread sterilization programs, only by spaying and neutering all companion animals, will we get a handle on pet overpopulation.
APAC offers a program making sterilzation available at a reduced cost to eligible residents in the Temple/Belton area. Proof of income is required.
